She served in both world wars, although she saw no action in World War I. She was badly damaged by British torpedo bombers in November 1940 and deliberately run aground. Repairs were never completed by the time of the Italian armistice in 1943. She was captured by the Germans, but they made no efforts to complete her repairs. She was damaged in an Allied air raid in early 1945 and capsized a week later. She was eventually scrapped in 1946.
