A noticeable trait shared with all her forms is a scar under her left eye after being struck by a Heinkel He 111 from Kampfgeschwader 4 (KG 4).
The real life Gangut was launched in 1911 - one year before Kongou (kancolle)| launched. This made Gangut the oldest ship in the game upon her inclusion, later to be eclipsed by Conte di Cavour (kancolle)|. She was completed in 1915 and served with the Baltic Fleet during World War I, though she saw only limited action.
She is the first native Russian shipgirl in the game (while Verniy (kancolle)| is the first shipgirl from the Soviet Fleet, her origin isn't Russian as she was seized as a war trophy from Japan by the Soviet Union after World War II). She is named for the Battle of Gangut in 1714. She was renamed after the October Revolution after her crew mutinied during the February Revolution of 1917.
She is voiced by Seto Asami.
