A 2/3 conversion was put forward during design plans in light of Hyuuga (kancolle)|'s turret explosion prior to Midway, where the #1 and #2 turret were to be retained and convert the rest into a carrier. This was historically ruled out since the capacity would be too big for the launching facility (2 catapults) to keep up, causing delays when launching attack squadrons. Ultimately, a cheaper 1/3 conversion took place after Midway.
