A little maverick of a throughbred, Mayano Top Gun is a young-looking horse girl obsessed with aviation and trying to be treated as an adult, demanding her Trainer (Umamusume)| take her on dates and bothering more "mature" girls for advice on how to be a lady. At the same time, she has many "gifted child" traits, such as an incredible talent for analyzing race strategies (reflected in-game with the ability to use any of the strategies in a race), quickly becoming bored of the "easy" training regiments she's given, and having a somewhat lacking attention span.

In real life, the horse was named after the film Top Gun (her jacket is nearly identical to that worn by Pete "Maverick" Mitchell), and fanartists often depict her alongside Tom Cruise or military aircraft from the movie. When Top Gun: Maverick was released in Japan, she was part of a cross-promotion to "advertise the movie":[/posts/5348482], with her voice actress attending a major premier.
