In real life, Sheffield was the third of the Southampton (Azur Lane)|-class light cruisers, the first group of the Town-class. She earned the nickname "Shiny Sheff" on account of the fact that her interior fittings were done in stainless steel instead of brass, rare in the Royal Navy.

She took part in the sinking of Bismarck (Azur Lane)|, Arctic convoys, the battles of the Barents Sea and North Cape, the Salerno landings, and Victorious (Azur Lane)|' attempts to sink Tirpitz (Azur Lane)|. Consequently, she attained 12 battle honours.

Post-war, consideration was given to turn her to a museum ship as she largely remained unchanged from her war years but she had deteriorated in reserve so Belfast (Azur Lane)| was selected instead. She was scrapped in 1967.
