A 2009-2010 two-season slice-of-life comedy anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation, based on a 2007-2012 (after a brief 2010 hiatus) 4koma series written and illustrated by Kakifly.

The plot is about the high school life of four first-year girls - Hirasawa Yui, Tainaka Ritsu, Akiyama Mio and Kotobuki Tsumugi - that revive their high school's light music club. They are joined a year later by Nakano Azusa and name their band Ho-kago Tea Time.

The K-On! Movie completing the end of the story was released in 2011.

There are two sequel mangas:

• K-On! College about the graduated Ho-kago Tea Time members going to college.
• K-On! High School presents Wakaba Girls, the new band formed by Nakano Azusa| and her friends.

A spin-off manga, K-On! Shuffle, began publication in 2018.
